Plot Summary of Worth Dying For by Lee Child

There is trouble in middle-of-nowhere corn county Nebraska . . . and when Jack Reacher stops off while hitchhiking to Virginia he walks right into it. First he falls foul of the Duncans, a local clan that has terrified an entire county into submission. But it’s the unsolved case of a missing child, already decades-old, that Reacher can’t let go of.

The Duncans want Reacher gone and it’s not just past secrets they’re trying to hide. For as dangerous as the Duncans are, they’re just the bottom of a criminal food chain stretching halfway around the world. For Reacher, it would have made much more sense to put some distance between himself and the hard-core trouble that’s bearing down on him. For Reacher, that was also impossible.

What, in this fearful county, would be worth dying for?

'If anyone can put down Worth Dying For after the first few pages, then they shouldn't really be reading thrillers at all.' Independent

Reading Order of Worth Dying For

Although Lee Child books are stand alone novels and can be read in any order they are best read in sequence. As Worth Dying For follows on from 61 Hours it would be best to read it after 61 Hours otherwise the significance and speed of his recovery from the explosion may not register as it needs to.

Is Worth Dying For Any Good?

Worth Dying For is receiving postive reviews. It is considered to be one of Lee Child's best books along with #1 Killing Floor and #9 One Shot.

Worth Dying For is a page turner practically from start to finish if a tad formulaic. In true Reacher style he intervenes in a problem that others in the town choose to ignore and takes on the bad guys for his trouble. The villians are well drawn in this novel and their dark secret is not revealed until near the end of the story.

If you are looking for a gripping read then this is it.
