Whitcoulls Top 20 Authors List 2014-2015

When Whitcoulls canvassed New Zealanders to find out what their Top 100 books for 2014-2015 were they also published a list of New Zealand's Top 20 Authors. To find out which authors were selected read on.

Jodi Picoult, author of such compelling books as My Sister's Keeper, The Pact and The Storyteller was voted New Zealand's favourite author for 2014-2015. In an interesting twist she narrowly edged out J. K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter series. These results may reflect the age of the voters as Jodi Picoult is most popular among women who are by far the largest demographic of book buyers.

Other fiction writers who made it to the list in the crime and thriller genre were Lee Child, Dan Brown and James Patterson. Most popular Sci-Fi & Fantasy authors were George R. R. Martin, J R. R. Tolkien and Terry Pratchett. Find out what other authors featured on the list below:

The top authors in New Zealand list is not all that surprising with all the big names featuring as you might expect. No real surprises but comforting to know that book tastes in New Zealand mirror overeseas trends.
