The Whitcoulls Top 100 Books for 2014-2015 as voted for by New Zealand readers has just been released. There are a lot of changes from the previous year 2013-2014. Read on for details about the books and a short commentary of the changes.
While the The Lord of the Rings series by J. R. R, Tolkien and A Game of Thrones series by George R. R. Martin retained their spots in the top 5 at #3 and #5 respectively the other top placegetters have changed completely. The Fault Among the Stars by John Green, also popular with young readers, eclipsed other potential winners moving from #7 to #1. Likewise Marcus Zusak' The Book Thief has also had a meteoric rise garnering the number two slot. The Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon now made into a successful TV series also moved up from #9 to #4.
